I’m always offended for men and embarrassed for the world when ads like this come out. Men are not children! It’s not funny to pretend your husband is a child! It’s not funny to act like a child (ie to pretend like you are incapable of doing something so that you can go into another room and watch tv)! It is degrading to everyone. In my household, the only divisions of labor are – okay, I really hate that can you do it? and back the other direction. The only principle you need in order to start establish an equal relationship (parenting or otherwise) is respect. People who have true respect for each other do not act like the people in this ad.//rant. Sorry. The only thing I hate more than ads like these are the extravagant praise my husband gets from extended family and strangers for being so “involved” as a father. You can tell most of them feel sorry for him for having a wife who “makes” him participate in family/household life. (Which he is delighted to participate in. Because he is a loving and respectful human being.)
